At BSL Wood Products, we make every effort to respect the environment, from the supply of raw materials to the marketing of our products.

Our floors are made from northern red oak, hard maple and birch. Because these are all North-American species, we can avoid long-distance shipping of wood, thereby limiting our carbon footprint on the environment.

The wood we use to make our flooring comes from forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council^® (FSC^®), an international non-governmental independent and non-profit organization which guarantees that FSC-certified wood-based products respect ten essential principles and criteria to ensure the responsible management of our forests. Among other practices, the finish we use does not give off harmful particulates such as formaldehyde.

In addition, the wood residues from our flooring factory are all recycled to produce ecological firelogs. More efficient, less damaging for the environment and easier to store than traditional logs, these high performance firelogs are sold under the brands SmartLog^®, Qualiflame^®* and Ecolog^®.

Finally, we use recycled paper — or paper with a high content of recycled fibre — almost exclusively to print our documents and we invite our clients to use our website to reduce their paper consumption.
